Canopus Outpost - Canopus System - Presidium Class Station.
Canopus VII is an P class planet that is a well suited counterpart for Andoria. As such there is a large colony of Andorians on the planet (just over 1 million). The planet also has a high concentration of pure dueterium, making it a key energy producer for the Angellus Sector.
Starfleet, now reasserting a presence in the Angellus Sector, wants to control access to the reserves, so they have built a Presidium Class Station in orbit around Canopus VII to protect the resources. An agreement was reached that all deuterium would be split 70% Federation / 30% Andorian colony. This has led to some tensions as the Andorians either hoard it for Andorian ships, or they sell to anyone, including pirates and other governments. Starfleet is a little more "restrictive" in their dealings.
Canopus Outpost is on the far side of the Romulan and Klingon Territories from the Federatin and is the last stopping point before hitting the unknown wilds of the Beta Quadrant. It is also close to the C'hakilian Empire and Krazzle Republic. While larger, more prestigious stations handle government meetings and accords, Canopus is the more blue collar.
